Which One Do You Need - an ETA or a Visa?

Updated: May 10

It depends on your nationality and your destination. As a general rule:

  • If your country has a visa-free agreement with your destination, you'll likely need an eTA rather than a visa

  • If no such agreement exists, you'll need a full visa

Always check the entry requirements for your specific destination before you travel. Requirements can change, and travelling without the correct authorisation can result in being denied boarding or entry. We also provide a list at the top of our application forms where you will clearly see if your are eligible for an ETA permit or not.
